Sourcing policy

How Pacy sources its reporting: original value, credit where a story was first reported, and no close rewrites.

A Pacy article has to add something that did not exist before it: analysis of the data we hold, a pattern across fixtures, or a clear account of what happened. Rewriting somebody else's article is not publishing. This page explains where our facts come from and how we credit the people who reported them first.

Our own data first

Previews, recaps and round-ups are built from Pacy's match records and model estimates. We hold those facts ourselves.

Credible sources only

News about players, transfers and injuries comes from credible news organisations and official league and club sites, never from rumour accounts.

Named and linked

When a fact was first reported elsewhere, that outlet is credited by name and linked in the article.

Never a rewrite

Every draft is compared with its sources. One that follows another outlet's wording too closely is rejected.

How a fact gets into an article

Found. Match facts come from Pacy's own records. News facts come from credible outlets: established news organisations, official league and club sites, and reputable specialist press.
Checked. A fact with no named organisation behind it is dropped, not used with a warning. A claim we cannot trace to our data or a named source does not make it into the draft.
Credited. The outlet that reported the fact is named, and linked where the article appears online.
Written in our own words. The article explains the fact and what it means. It does not reproduce the original report's wording or structure.
Reviewed. An editor checks the finished article, including its credits, before approving it.

Rules that apply to every article

Where a fact is first reported elsewhere, that outlet is credited by name and linked.
Quotes are attributed, and taken from a source Pacy has seen rather than from another outlet's summary of it.
No article is a close rewrite of another publication's piece.
Where a claim is contested, the article says who is making it.
Rumour is not reported as fact. If a story is unconfirmed, the article says so.

Match data

Scores, fixtures and match events are facts about public events. Pacy collects them continuously, reconciles them into one record per match, and corrects them when they turn out to be wrong. A source that proves unreliable is dropped. How this works is described in the data methodology.

Predictions

Pacy's win probabilities are our own work, produced by our rating model from past results. They are never copied from a bookmaker or another site, and they are labelled as Pacy's estimates wherever they appear.

Images and other material

Pacy uses no text, photography or graphics without the right to use them. Images carry their credit where one is required. If you believe something of yours is on Pacy without permission, write to [email protected] and a person will look at it.

Tell us if we got a source wrong

If a credit is missing, points to the wrong outlet, or a fact does not match its source, tell us. It is handled under the corrections policy. The wider rules are in our editorial standards.
