What Pacy measures, what it never collects, how long it is kept, and how to say no without losing anything.

Pacy measures how the site is used so we can make it faster and more useful. Nothing is collected until you say yes. The identifiers we use are random, and saying no costs you nothing: every score, prediction and article works exactly the same.

Nothing before you agree

No analytics request is made until you accept. If you decline, nothing is recorded.

Random, not personal

The identifiers are random values created in your browser. They are not based on anything about you.

No ad tracking

No advertising identifiers and no cross-site tracking. The data is first-party and stays with Pacy.

Deleted on a timer

Analytics events expire after 90 days by default, and never later than two years.

What happens if you accept

  1. Two random IDs are created. One is kept for your browser and one for this visit. They are stored in your browser's own storage, not in cookies.
  2. Each page view is noted. We record the page path, the site that sent you, any campaign tags in the link you followed, and your window width.
  3. Your device is described in broad terms. From your browser's user-agent string we note a device type, a browser and an operating system. Nothing more specific.
  4. An approximate place, if available. Where our hosting layer supplies one, we note a country, region or city. Never coordinates.

What is never collected

  • Your IP address is not stored with analytics events.
  • No precise location and no coordinates.
  • No name, email address or account identifier is attached to analytics.
  • No third-party advertising or cross-site tracking identifiers.

If you decline

No analytics request is made and nothing is recorded. Your choice is saved in your own browser so you are not asked again, and every part of Pacy keeps working exactly as before.

How long it is kept

Analytics events are deleted automatically once their retention period ends. It is 90 days by default. It can be set anywhere from 7 days to two years, never longer. Expired events are removed, not archived.

Delivering the site

Like every website, Pacy's servers and the network that protects them see your IP address when your browser asks for a page. That is needed to send you the page and to block abusive traffic. It is not added to the analytics described here.

Cookies

Pacy sets no advertising or analytics cookies. Signing in sets a session cookie, which only keeps you signed in.

Changing your mind

Clearing your browser storage for this site removes your saved choice and both identifiers, and Pacy will ask you again on your next visit.
