Miami Heat acquire the two-time MVP from Milwaukee and add sharpshooter Klay Thompson, reshaping the East for 2026-27.
According to ESPN, the Miami Heat have agreed to terms with the Milwaukee Bucks to acquire Giannis Antetokounmpo, the two-time MVP, in a major trade. Miami's outgoing package consists of four players (Tyler Herro, Kel'el Ware, Jaime Jaquez Jr., and Kasparas Jakucionis) plus a collection of future draft assets spanning to 2033: unprotected first-rounders in 2031 and 2033, the 13th overall pick in the 2026 draft, a 2030 pick swap, and a 2033 second-rounder.
Per ESPN, Miami also moved quickly to sign veteran marksman Klay Thompson to a two-year, $13 million contract following his buyout from Dallas. The move supplies the Heat with a spacing option to deploy alongside their newly acquired superstar.
Together, Antetokounmpo and Thompson represent a dramatic reshaping of the Eastern Conference competitive landscape.
