Washington's final drive runs out of time in a 27-27 tie with the Giants

New York's kicker missed three times, including in overtime, and Washington's last drive stalled in field-goal range as the Week 5 game ended level.

Washington and the New York Giants finished 27-27 after overtime on 11 October 2026, and the tie came down to a last drive that ran out of time at the Giants' 24. Washington had led 27-13 in the fourth quarter, per AP, before New York rallied.

A lead that did not survive the second half

Washington went into the locker room up 12-3, and the second half belonged to New York. The Giants scored 10 points in the third quarter and 14 in the fourth, against Washington's 7 and 8. Two Giants receivers did much of the scoring. Malik Nabers caught a 17-yard touchdown from Jameis Winston with 1:43 left in regulation to tie the game at 27, capping a 10-play, 72-yard drive, per amNY. Earlier, Isaiah Likely caught a 17-yard score on fourth-and-8 with 7:20 left, and finished with 11 catches for 94 yards, per amNY.

Overtime, and a final drive that ran out

Daron Payne stripped Cam Skattebo while the Giants were in range for a winning field goal, and Washington recovered at the Giants' 24 with about two minutes left, per AP. New York also had a kick go wrong in overtime. Dominic Zvada missed a 46-yard field goal, his third miss of the game, per amNY. Pacy's kicking line has him at 2 of 5 on field goals.

Washington's chance ended with 12 seconds left and no timeouts. Jayden Daniels had the offence at the Giants' 24, scrambled, was tackled for no gain, and time ran out before Washington could snap again, per AP. Yahoo Sports called the sequence a game-management gaffe for the ages. Daniels took the blame afterwards:

'Ultimately, you know, it's on me.' (Jayden Daniels, per Yahoo Sports)

Dan Quinn ripped off his headset during the final sequence, according to AP.

Washington were the more efficient side, gaining more per snap despite running 24 fewer plays.

New York's two lost fumbles, one each by Winston and Skattebo, are why a side that won the red zone 3 of 3 still could not win the game.

Standout performers

Daniels finished 17 of 25 for 199 yards with no touchdown passes and no interceptions, a 91.9 passer rating. He also ran 10 times for 103 yards and two touchdowns. In his first game back from the dislocation he suffered in Week 2, he wore a brace on his left elbow, per AP.

Winston was 33 of 54 for 326 yards with three touchdowns, no interceptions and a 96.7 rating. Nabers and Likely each caught 11 passes, with Nabers gaining 121 yards and scoring once on 20 targets. Terry McLaurin returned from a hamstring injury to catch four passes for 62 yards, per AP. Sonny Styles recorded 12 total tackles for Washington.

What it means for both teams

Pacy's recent results show Washington's last two games as a 33-31 win over Seattle on 27 September and a 13-30 loss to Indianapolis on 4 October, a 46-61 scoring record across the two.
